a year of making

artwork a week in 2011

More wax and I’ve got this weeks project up early! Hoorah!

These colors are so fun!

I’M BACK!!

I’ve been itching to do another wax painting and even though I’ve been really into the cooler color spectrum, I thought the warmer palette would be fun for today. There are probably 20 crayons melted onto this 8x8” cradleboard. I love the close up photographs sometimes even more than actual thing, it brings out all the detail and marbling.

I’d love to know your thoughts on this or if you have suggestions for future projects. Send me an e-mail!

The house is filling up with these blog projects so keep checking my etsy store if you’re interested in buying any of them, should be up soon. www.etsy.lesliemward.com.

It took me a while to get the idea for this one going. The other projects I’m pondering would take more time than I had this week. I love the drips. I would like to dedicate this project to Crayola, thank you for instilling a love of color in me from the beginning.

Maybe this goes without saying now but I used Crayola crayons and a heat gun to melt them onto a 6x6” white cradleboard. As for specific colors, I used…
Cerulean
Tropical Rainforest
Pacific Blue
Navy Blue
Midnight Blue
Blue green
Spring green
Green Yellow
Yellow Green
Inchworm
